Exciting Progress at Angata Sugar Mills: Construction Begins and Collaboration with Local Farmers
Construction has officially begun at our state-of-the-art sugar milling facility in Transmara Sub County. The facility will have an initial crushing capacity of 2,000 Tons of Cane per Day (TCD), with plans to expand to 4,000 TCD by 2027.
The construction project is one of the largest private sector investments in Transmara's history, creating over 500 direct construction jobs and an estimated 2,000 permanent jobs once fully operational.
Our mill is being built to the highest international standards, incorporating the latest energy-efficient technologies. The co-generation plant will use bagasse — the fibrous residue left after crushing sugarcane — to generate electricity, making us largely self-sufficient in energy.
Alongside the construction, we have been working intensively with local farmers to prepare for our first harvest season. Our agricultural team has been conducting soil tests, distributing certified sugarcane seedlings, and training farmers on best practices for sugarcane cultivation.
We are proud to be building not just a factory, but a complete agricultural ecosystem that will transform the economic landscape of Transmara for generations to come.
